Husband and wife pub managers Kim (The Swan) and Steve Newstead (The William Henry) have jointly donated £200 to help to keep the flags flying in Weymouth.
Nearby St Alban Street, once known as Flag Street, is decked out in flags and bunting all year round, thanks to the efforts of Weymouth resident Pat Silverton (pictured centre, with Kim and Steve).
A retired market trader, Pat began decorating the traditional narrow street a few years ago, to help the 20 or so independent shops, cafés and pubs to promote their business and attract customers to the area.
Pat said: “I do all of the work voluntarily, with the help of local businesses."
Kim said: “Pat does a fantastic job and we wanted to show our support for his efforts. The street is a great tourist attraction and has really put Weymouth on the map.”
