Wetherspoon’s loos are the best in Britain, as it becomes the first double winner of the prestigious Loo of the Year Awards.
Wetherspoon has been named as winner of the Loo of the Year Awards, 2010.
It was voted as the overall winner by independent assessors who visited and assessed hundreds of UK toilets, across numerous sectors, including hotels, restaurants, pubs, shopping centres, department stores and conference venues.
It is the first occasion that a previous winner of the Loo of the Year Awards has won the award for a second time, Wetherspoon having also been winner of the overall award in 2001.
In addition, Wetherspoon won all four awards in the ‘pubs and wine bars’ category – across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as the major national award winner for individual category entries for Wales.
The company also had the highest number of four- and five-star award winners, with a total of 150 five-star winners and 38 four-star winners (individual toilets are judged from zero to five, five being the highest rating, by independent assessors).
The four pubs which won the individual titles were The Looking Glass, Warrington (England), The Alexander Graham Bell, Edinburgh (Scotland), The Pontlottyn, Abertillery (Wales) and The Diamond, Derry (Northern Ireland).
