Five-star performance from Reading pubs

All four Wetherspoon pubs in and around Reading enjoyed success at the town’s Best Bar None pubwatch awards 2011.
The Hope Tap, The Monks’ Retreat and The Back of Beyond all achieved a five-star rating, at the presentation gala dinner, while The Baron Cadogan, in Caversham, received a four-star honour.
The Hope Tap was also voted ‘best in category’, a new award this year, for achieving the highest score in the pub category.
More than 30 pubs, bars and nightclubs took part in the fifth annual awards initiative.
Representatives from Reading Borough Council and Thames Valley Police were at the awards evening – supporters of the voluntary scheme which recognises venues run in a responsible and safe manner.
