The pub, housed in a listed building, opened on 10 March 1999 on the site of a disused gentleman’s club in the city – following a £2-million development project.
The pub’s current manager, John Hudson (pictured front), was joined by Richard Leith, Anthony Buckley, Jane Sexton and Guy Stoker (left to right).
All four of the pub’s former managers still work for Wetherspoon: Richard Leith is an area manager for Scotland, Anthony Buckley and Jane Sexton are area managers in the northeast and Teeside (respectively), while Guy Stoker is manager of The Bishops’ Mill, in Durham.
The Union Rooms’ present manager, John Hudson, said: “The Union Rooms is a landmark pub in the city and one of its most popular.
“It is wonderful that four of the pub’s former managers returned to mark its 10th birthday.”
Anthony Buckley, area manager for The Union Rooms, said: “The pub holds special memories for each of us and has been instrumental in our career in Wetherspoon.”
The pub’s other manager during the ten years, Debbie Bradley (now manager of The Eva Hart, Chadwell Heath, Essex), was unable to make the reunion.
