Team leader and rugby fan Simon Jessop (centre) organised a rugby themed beer festival at his pub The Paramount, in Manchester.
Simon approached eight breweries, located in or near the home town of the eight teams participating in the Super League play-off matches. Each brewery was asked to produce an ale for one of the rugby teams.
The notable exceptions to the local theme were the beers for Catalan Dragons, hailing from The Pyrenees in France, which was produced by Moorhouse’s, bearing the same name as the team, and Hull FC, whose ale ‘Triple Crown’ was made by Sheffield-based Kelham Island.
Saltaire Brewery brewed ‘White Rhino’ for Leeds Rhinos; Wakefield Wildcats had a beer of the same name by Ossett Brewery; Elland Brewery produced ‘Giant Suprise’ for Huddersfield Giants; AllGates Brewery supplied ‘Warriors Dance’ for Wigan Warriors; ‘Live Wire’ was produced by Coach House Brewing Company for Warrington Wolves; Robinsons Brewery brewed ‘Saints Gold’ for St Helens.
