All five Wetherspoon pubs across County Durham were recognised at the annual Best Bar None (BBN) awards 2012.
The County Durham BBN awards encompass four areas: Bishop Auckland, Chester-le-Street, Consett and Durham City.
The Company Row achieved a winning sweep, being voted as ‘best pub,’ as well as ‘overall winner’, in the awards for Consett. The Wicket Gate was awarded ‘overall winner’, for Chester-le-Street.
In Durham, The Bishops’ Mill was awarded ‘best bar’ runner-up and The Water House ‘best pub’ runner-up.
All four outlets, as well as The Stanley Jefferson, in Bishop Auckland, were accredited and received a certificate.
Shelley Hobbs, pub manager at The Company Row, said: “We are thrilled to win at the awards this year and be named ‘best overall venue’ for Consett. It is great to be recognised and to have our hard work rewarded in this way.”
Carol Feenan, County Durham Best Bar None manager, said: “A huge thankyou goes out to all of the licensees for taking part again and helping to make our towns and city centre safer places to visit and enjoy at night.”
