A group of artists and art enthusiasts in Billericay called on local businesses to provide venues for a local art trail.
The Blue Boar, in the Essex town, was one of several that took part, including cafés, a library, church and supermarket, as well as The Fold – Billericay’s arts centre.
George Bright was one of the artists taking part in the 10-day ‘Billericay Art Trail 2012’, with his works on show at The Blue Boar.
George, pictured with some of his artwork, said: “I have lived in Billericay for 25 years and have been painting most of my life. I was thrilled to see my work on show at The Blue Boar.”
The aim of the event was to bring artists, retailers, caterers and community groups of Billericay together to showcase local artists’ talents. The trail aimed to encourage more people to visit the wide variety of shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, churches and other community venues which Billericay has to offer.
Leanne Korakianitis, who runs The Blue Boar with her husband Theo, said: “We thought that the art trail was a great community initiative and that the pub would be an ideal venue for displaying some of the pieces.”
