Two Wetherspoon pubs in Devon were shortlisted in a ‘Pub of the Year’ competition 2013.
The popular public vote competition, run by the Express & Echo newspaper, takes a close look at pubs and bars, helps to promote the industry locally and celebrates the best available in and around Exeter.
The Powder Monkey (Exmouth) and The Chevalier Inn (Exeter) were both nominated for the title.
Readers, pub-goers and landlords nominate their favourite pub and contact the newspaper with their choice. The nominations are then collected, before the voting process begins. There were more than 1,000 votes cast in the inaugural competition 2013.
Rachel Durley, pub manager at The Powder Monkey, pictured with Simon Davies, pub manager At The Chevalier Inn, said: “It is very unusual for national pub companies to be nominated for this local award, so although we didn’t win we were absolutely delighted to be included.”
