Pub manager Phil Edmonds has, once again, been recognised in the Disability Employer of the Year annual awards.
Phil, who runs The Square Peg, in Birmingham, finished as runner-up, in the initiative run by Birmingham City Council.
He won the award in 2010, while manager at The Arthur Robertson, in Perry Barr.
A keen supporter of the council scheme to help those with learning difficulties into employment, Phil employs two kitchen associates with learning disabilities.
Brian Chamberlain now works at The Square Peg, having previously worked with Phil at The Arthur Robertson.
Adrian Evans, pictured with kitchen manager Leigh Lynch, joined the team initially at The Square Peg on a four-week workexperience placement, but was taken on
permanently at the end of November.
Adrian also received an employment award, in recognition for gaining employment.
Phil said: “We took the guys on at a very busy time, over the Christmas period, and I was a little concerned, as it is a pressurised environment in the kitchen – and we are a very busy food pub.
“However, they completely shone. They are happy to get on with the job, are both very hard workers and so determined in everything that they do.”
