The William Peverel, in Bulwell, has been nominated for a leading design award.
The Nottinghamshire pub, which opened in September 2011, has been named in the pub category, in the UK and International Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2012.
Wetherspoon spent £1.3 million redeveloping the outlet, on the site of a former Wilkinson hardware store, Co-op supermarket and originally the Picture Palace cinema.
The awards invite and receive entries from the world’s top architects, designers and hospitality operators. Totally independent, it is the world’s only concept of its kind, dedicated exclusively to hospitality design.
There are 600 entries this year, from 60 countries, with categories for the UK and international, encompassing pubs, restaurants, clubs and cafés.
The 22 judges are a highly influential panel of top design, lifestyle and hospitality personalities, whose role is to recognise and reward entrants for design excellence.
The winners of the various categories, including the best-designed restaurant and the best-designed bar, will be announced at the Royal Institute of British Architects (September 2012).
