Community brings festive cheer
Article date: 05 Mar 2014

A charity raffle at The Joseph Bramah, in Barnsley, raised £250 for a community event. Regular customer Jim Makinson is pictured with his prize, a gingerbread house made by kitchen manager June McMurdo, which he donated to Barnsley Hospital’s children’s ward.

The raffle money, together with kind donations from local businesses, helped to bring festive  cheer to the Barnsley Mencap Christmas party at the pub, for 50 people. A real community project,  Restored Furniture of Barnsley made a Santa’s sleigh, with B&Q donating paint and decorations, while the local ASDA gave gifts for the party.
