The Robert the Bruce, in Dumfries, was a prize winner in the Dumfries in Bloom Competition 2009.

The pub was awarded third place, in the licensed premises category, in the annual competition organised by Civic Pride Dumfries and supported by Dumfries & Galloway Council.

The Dumfries in Bloom scheme organises and maintains floral displays on commercial premises in the town.

The pub’s manager, Martin Downey (pictured left with gardener Henry Robson), said: “Henry does a great job tending to all of the pub’s exterior areas, the garden, flower beds, hanging baskets and window boxes; it is a big job.

“We are all delighted that his hard work has been rewarded with this recognition and are aiming to get first place next year.”

The certificate, presented by Civic Pride Dumfries at a special awards ceremony, is on display at the pub.
