Mayor of Tamworth, Cllr Tina Clements is pictured toasting the opening of the Tamworth Beer Festival, with organisers Geoff Cross (centre) and Martin Warrillow and a glass of Bobby Dazzler.
The 19th Tamworth Beer Festival, organised by Lichfield, Sutton and Tamworth Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch at the Assembly Rooms in the town, made a specific request for Bobby Dazzler to be available at the annual event.
Bury-based Brightside Brewery produced the blond beer (4.2% ABV) exclusively for The Robert Peel, in Bury, which is served as a permanent house ale at the pub.
The Tamworth organisers were keen for the beer to be among their 100 real ales, ciders and perries on offer at this year’s event.
One reason for the inclusion was to commemorate Robert Peel, who helped to create the modern concept of the police force, as home secretary, by establishing the Metropolitan Police in 1829; he also moved from Bury to Tamworth.
