Wetherspoon pubs in and around the West Midlands have been recognised in their respective Best Bar None schemes.
In the scheme run by Birmingham City Council, The Bottle of Sack (Sutton Coldfield) was voted ‘best-suburban bar’, while The Arthur Robertson (Perry Barr) was named ‘bestsuburban pub.’
More than 100 premises, licensed to sell alcohol, took part in the scheme, run in partnership with West Midlands police and the fire service.
In a separate Best Bar None scheme, undertaken by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, The White Swan (Solihull) was crowned ‘overall winner’.
The pub picked up the overall trophy, together with title of ‘best town-centre pub’.
The Mayor of Solihull, Cllr Ian Courts, presented the trophy to pub manager Dawn Lingley-Webster.
In addition, The Assembly Rooms (Solihull) received an accreditation, while The Elizabeth of York (Moseley) was highly commended in the ‘best suburban pub’ category, with The Briar Rose, The Soloman Cutler and The Dragon Inn (all Birmingham) receiving accreditations.
