A community event at The Prior John enabled more than 70 regulars to enjoy a brewery visit day out.
Pub manager Darren Horner, at the Bridlington outlet, teamed up with Chris, owner of local coach company East Coast Travel to provide customers the opportunity to visit Wold Top Brewery.
The popularity of the event, with a full 59-seater coach, meant that Darren had to organise a second trip to the brewery in Wold Newton, for those who missed out.
Darren, pictured front second left, with some of his regulars at the brewery, said: “Wold Top Brewery’s beers are very popular. With the brewery just 20–25 minutes’ drive away, it was the obvious choice for our trip.
“We had a tour, open forum and informal question-and-answer session, lasting an hour and a half, before we had sandwiches and the chance to sample four newly produced beers, in a blind tasting session.
“We asked the group members to vote for their favourite of the four ales – and the clear winner is now the house ale at The Prior John.”
The dark East Coast brew (4.0% ABV) is called Wold Liz, named after duty manager and popular staff member Liz Hirst.
The two trips, as well as raffles, also raised £500 for CLIC Sargent, in the process.
