Wetherspoon pubs across Cornwall have been recognised, in the third annual Cornwall Best Bar None awards 2013.

The scheme, based on national best practice to promote responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises, rewards those which meet minimum standards for licensing legislation, including the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of nuisance, health and safety and protection of children.

Among the premises achieving the standard for accreditation for 2013 were: The Rann Wartha (St Austell), The Cribbar (Newquay), The Hain Line (St Ives), Chapel an Gansblydhen (Bodmin), The John Francis Basset (Camborne), The Tremenheere (Penzance) and Try Dowr (Truro). The John Francis Basset was also voted winner for 2013 in the ‘best large pub’ category.

Graham Eva, chair of the Cornwall Licensing Strategic Group which administers the Cornwall Best Bar None scheme, said: “The premises awarded accreditation this year are to be congratulated.

“We hope that their achievement encourages many more licensed premises in Cornwall to aspire to the standards required and receive recognition in 2014.”
