Stick or Twist, in Leeds, was voted city-centre ‘pub of the season’, for winter 2012, by members of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Leeds branch.
Bar associate Hannah Clarke is pictured receiving a certificate from branch chairman John Rowe, as fellow CAMRA members and customers celebrate at the pub.
Shift leader and real-ale enthusiast Matt Gardner is one of the members of staff, responsible for the promotion and selection of ales at the pub.
Matt said: “We have a dozen real ales available at all times.
“We are keen to promote real ale and especially LocAle, supporting our local new small microbreweries and giving the beer-drinkers in Leeds what they want. We also hold regular monthly meet-the-brewer evenings which are increasingly popular.
“We have built up a great relationship with our CAMRA branch and are delighted to have achieved this award. Our next aim is to be included in the Good Beer Guide for 2014.”
Ridgeside Brewery is the closest to Stick or Twist, just five minutes’ walk from the pub, and one ale from its range is always available. Over 10 other local breweries provide LocAles to Stick or Twist.
