The nine Wetherspoon pubs, in Northern Ireland are already half way towards their fundraising target for CLIC Sargent’s Homes from Home.
The initiative, to amass £100,000 in a two year period for the Northern Ireland Appeal, has already topped £50,000, with 15 months still to go.
Currently, there are no ‘Homes from Home’ in Northern Ireland, and all nine Wetherspoon pubs across the region have pledged to jointly raise £100,000 towards
CLIC Sargent’s Northern Ireland Appeal.
CLIC Sargent provides Homes from Home across the UK, all of which offer families somewhere comfortable to stay, free, close to their child who is receiving treatment.
Families across the region have to travel on average, up to 95 miles, up to five times a week, to access the cancer treatment which they need for their sick child. Imagine that strain, on top of coping with your child’s illness.
Wetherspoon’s chief executive, John Hutson, who sits on the appeal committee, said: “Our nine Wetherspoon pubs in Northern Ireland are delighted to be supporting CLIC Sargent’s Homes from Home Appeal – and we are doing our utmost to ensure that our pubs raise £100,000 towards this, over two years. Since the appeal was launched, the pubs have so far raised over £50,000.”
There are lots more events planned over the year ahead, such as a 95 mile challenge and taking part in the Belfast marathon.
