The Olympia has shown its support for the Tredegar Mayor’s Charity Appeal, by staging a fancy-dress event at the pub in the Welsh town.

Staff dressed as ‘Where’s Wally’ for the fund-raiser, amassing £200, with cash collections and a raffle, with prizes including champagne, wine and a meal for two at the pub.

Councillor Bernard Willis, Tredegar Town Mayor, was at the event – and the monies raised were donated to The Alzheimer’s Society, the selected charity as the recipient of his Mayor’s Appeal for his 2011/12 year in offi ce.

Calum Brennan, pub manager at The Olympia (now at The Potters Wheel, Swansea), said: “We were keen to get involved with the community event and thank our customers for their support, in what was a very successful evening.”
