Wetherspoon pubs across England celebrated the country’s patron saint St George, with events, parties and fund-raising activities.
At The Moon Under Water, in Norbury, duty manager Tony Wakenell dressed as a 13th-century knight, including chainmail armour, to mark St George’s Day.
Tony is pictured, right, with shift leaders Kasia Michalczuk and Craig Carrigan, who dressed as a page.
Pedro Farrel, a regular customer at the pub, performed a selection of works by William Shakespeare, to mark the bard’s birthday, also on 23 April.
The pub, in southwest London, was festooned with balloons and flags,
Itchen Valley Brewery supplied a beer for the occasion, especially named The Holy Grale, and customers enjoyed British menu favourites, such as fish and chips.
A St George’s Day quiz and cash donations raised £120 for CLIC Sargent.
