Wetherspoon staff and customers have now raised £5 million for their chosen charity – CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.
And to mark the occasion, Wetherspoon founder and chairman, Tim Martin, was joined by CLIC Sargent patron, Barry McGuigan and Tom Preston, who has been helped by the charity.
Wetherspoon began its partnership with CLIC Sargent in 2002, with the aim of raising as much money as possible to improve the lives of young people and children with cancer, across the UK.
Tim Martin said: “I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our dedicated staff and customers who have fundraised tirelessly over the past nine years to help families affected by childhood cancer.
“Supporting CLIC Sargent has become an integral part of Wetherspoon’s culture and we’re delighted to have now raised £5 million for this wonderful charity.
“We are now looking forward to raising many more millions in the coming years as our partnership with the charity continues.”
CLIC Sargent’s fundraising campaign manager, India Lawton, added: “We are thrilled that Wetherspoon has reached this milestone and appreciate their continued support for the work that we do.”
