About this hotel

The Unicorn, in Market Place East, is one of Ripon's oldest and most historic inns. It is the largest building on Market Place and has featured in the many aspects of Ripon's history since the 17th century. The inn retains much of its historic splendour, while providing modern-day levels of comfort. All of the hotel's 32 bedrooms are ensuite and include tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer and TV. It offers 13 twin rooms, 16 doubles and 3 rooms catering for parties of three. FREE Wi-Fi is available in the bar area.

Directions

From North or South Turn off at Thirsk, Ripon, A61 turning, Follow signs for Ripon, continue along road for approx. 4 miles, go straight on at the first roundabout then at the next roundabout take the second exit onto rotary way, turn left onto Stonebridgegate, then take the first right onto Allhallowgate, take the 2nd left onto finkle street and follow into the City centre The Unicorn Hotel is on the left in the market place. Long stay parking is available behind Sainsburys car park.

Car-parking

There is limited car parking available at the rear of the hotel. There is a short stay car park on the market place directly in front of the hotel. The nearest long stay car park is at the lower level of the Sainsburys car park, to the rear of the hotel.

Local transport

Ripon bus station is a five-minute walk from the hotel, with regular buses to Harrogate, Leeds and York. The closest train station is Harrogate.

Local attractions

The ancient cathedral city of Ripon is in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside. In addition to the 7th-century cathedral, the city boasts many historic buildings, museums and monuments, including a traditional market square and 300-year-old (and 90ft-high) obelisk. The city has a labyrinth of medieval streets, with a stunning mixture of medieval and Georgian architecture capturing the past and providing a stunning setting for shops, restaurants and attractions. As well as the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, Ripon can boast a multitude of top attractions for all tastes (from heritage to sports), within a 10-mile radius of the city.
