About this Hotel
Originally a 17th-century coaching inn, this Wetherspoon hotel is centrally located in the town square, opposite the town hall. We have 24 individual bedrooms, many with high, vaulted ceilings. All of our rooms are ensuite and include tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer and TV. FREE Wi-Fi is available in the bar area.
Directions
Approaching from the M4: Take junction 24 onto the A40. Take the first turning after the tunnel, signposted Monmouth. Turn right at the garage, then right at the roundabout and go through the town. After ¼ mile, take the right turn (a one-way street); we are across the road from the town hall.Approaching from the M5: Take the M50, heading for Ross-on-Wye and leading onto the A40. Turn right at the roundabout, to take you into Monmouth. Turn left at the town hall; we are are across the road from the town hall.
Car Parking
There is a large pay-and-display car park approximately 300 metres from the hotel on Glendower Street.
Local Transport
The bus station is a two-minute walk from the hotel, with local and national links to Cardiff and Newport. There is a bus to Hereford from here, stopping at Hereford train station.
Local Attractions
Monmouth is an elegant market town with a splendid location at the confluence of three rivers; the Trothy, Monnow and (more famously) the river Wye. The town overlooks the hills of Abergavenny, Hay Bluff and the Brecon Beacons, making for superb views and must-do tours of the Royal Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. There are also some excellent golf courses in the area.
