We are committed to fostering the preservation and protection of the environment, while recognising our wider social responsibility.
We strive to minimise any emissions or effluents which may cause environmental damage.
Our Energy Savings Group is tasked with ensuring that we conserve energy through minimising consumption and maximising efficiency.
We promote efficient purchasing which will both minimise waste and allow materials to be recycled, where appropriate.
Our achievements
- Recycle over 30,000 tonnes of cans, cardboard, glass, plastic and oil every year.
- Introduced a delivery vehicle which runs on 100 per cent bioDiesel, but this isn’t just any old bioDiesel – in a closed loop, we are recycling our own cooking oil.
- In 2007, we opened our greenest pub, The Kettleby Cross, at Melton Mowbray – packed full of green gizmos and aiming to use 50% less energy than a traditional pub of similar size.
- High-tech taps introduced into each new opening save 400 litres of water every single day – that’s a total saving of over 4 million litres annually.
- A 12% reduction on the energy used by our fridges and freezers has been achieved in all of our new openings, by installing specialist controls.
