JDW Lodges Title

We know that you appreciate our Wetherspoon lodges - many of them housed, as with our pubs, in fantastically restored and historic buildings. No sign of Alan Partridgesque formulaic rooms here. In fact, in our eleven current lodges, we have over 300 bedrooms, none of which share the same size or layout; all of which share the same standards of comfort and cleanliness which you’d expect for that business trip or short break.

Sorry for the slightly sales-like intro, but it was designed by way of an explanation about why we don’t and won’t open lodges at a rate of knots. We do pubs and we do them well, but where we find a building which could provide accommodation, we often open it as a Wetherspoon lodge.

Two such properties, both rather special (and in rather special regions), are due to open during May 2008.

We will feature the lodges in more detail in the next issue of Wetherspoon News, but here’s a quick taster for now.

Incidentally, nothing against Alan Partridge - he can come and stay at any of our lodges, any time.

Both of the new lodges will offer rooms from £50*.

Discover Bewdley

One visit to Bewdley will explain why this delightful town was once described as ’the most perfect small Georgian town in Worcestershire’.

Thomas Telford’s famed arch bridge provides a focal point for the town, spanning the River Severn. Indeed, the whole town has the feeling of living history - a peaceful riverside setting, with a beautiful mix of unspoilt buildings, gardens and attractions.

Outside of the town, you can enjoy the Worcestershire countryside or take in nearby attractions, including the Severn Valley Railway, West Midland Safari & Leisure Park and Wyre Forest.

Discover Tewkesbury

Tewkesbury is an ancient settlement, at the meeting point of the Rivers Severn and Avon, whose flood plains have very nicely prevented the old-world town from expanding, enabling you to delight in one of the best medieval townscapes in England today.

As you would expect, the town and surrounding areas are steeped in history, with a wealth of historic buildings and attractions to discover, as well as some simply stunning river valley countryside, making the Cotswolds and Severn Vale one of the country’s best-loved regions.

'Out of the Hat' is the new Tewkesbury heritage and visitor centre, just a few doors down from the lodge, with tourist information, as well as games and interactive fun.
