San Miguel’s philosophy is simple: “A passion that, if you live your life with curiosity, optimism and a belief that the best is yet to come, then great things will happen.”
Fearless Spaniards
The story began in 1890, when a bunch of fearless Spaniards crossed the seas to the Philippines in search of a dream, founding the first brewery in Asia. By 1903, San Miguel began to flourish, with additional breweries opening in Shanghai, Guam and Hong Kong.
During the 1940s and 1950s, San Miguel became a favourite of Americans in the South Pacific and, in 1953, San Miguel journeyed back west to Madrid.
The lager we enjoy today
The pale blond Pilsener-style lager was first brewed in 1957, in the Lleida brewery in Spain, and is now enjoyed worldwide.
San Miguel (5.0% ABV) is brewed using a special mashing process, giving the beer a fuller and slightly sweeter flavour.
By 1960, San Miguel’s reputation for excellence spread, opening breweries across Europe and even further into the Far East.
Unique
The unique recipe and the San Miguel yeast come together to deliver a refreshing, full-bodied beer with a great taste, golden in colour and sparkling with a generous white creamy head.
